Abandoned Amusement Parks

Abandoned Amusement Parks Title Image

One of my favorite things to look at on Pinterest is abandoned architecture photos. There is something so eerily beautiful about places that time has forgotten. Abandoned amusement parks are a particularly creepy sub genre. What is it about these places that immediately conjure up images of vintage Scooby Doo episodes (a large number of these episodes seem to take place in amusement parks). The reasons behind the parks’ closers vary greatly from money problems, to disgruntled golfers, and disasters both human and natural. What’s even more interesting is that they were left to rot in architectural purgatory. The above image is one of many that appear in a curated piece from the blog Flavorwire. I highly recommend digging deeper into the history of these locations, especially those located in America.
